The sea is not just a boundary, it has always been a bridge to opportunity and prosperity. That belief anchors Maharashtra's Maritime Summit, where today’s deliberations focus on how our maritime strength can fuel growth, improve connectivity, and place India at the forefront of global trade. Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji has always envisioned a port-led economy. His vision is reflected in the 'India Maritime Vision 2030' and 'India Amrit Kaal Maritime Vision 2047'. Inspired by this, Maharashtra is shaping a bold maritime roadmap, rooted in a coastline rich with legacy, especially across Mumbai and Konkan. Mumbai is said to be India’s economic, commercial, entertainment, and financial capital. Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar Ishaq Dar chaired a high-level meeting regarding the improvement of port connectivity today. Secretary Maritime Affairs gave a detailed briefing to the Committee regarding the current situation of Pakistani ports and their utilization capacity. DPM/FM emphasized that the geographical location of Pakistan is an asset which needs to be explored. The country lies at the crossroads of Central, South and West Asia. By improving connectivity, the country could get maximum economic benefits. The Committee reviewed measures for the development and enhancement of the efficiency and competitiveness of Pakistan’s ports. Discussions also focused on improving port connectivity, streamlining operational processes, strengthening inter-agency coordination, facilitating trade and logistics, and advancing reforms to position Pakistan’s ports as efficient regional trade gateways. The meeting was attended by the Ministers for Law & Justice and Maritime Affairs, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Secretary Maritime Affairs, DG NLC, Chairman of the Karachi Port Authority, and senior officials from relevant departments.
