Exactly this! She was not there to let him speak up for himself. She was just there to control a certain narrative that she wanted to push. If you watch the interview, she interrupts him countless times and cuts him off while he’s trying to say something important.

oprah became a billionaire because she has a long history of sensationalizing interviews and pushing guests into moments that later proved to be inappropriate or irresponsible. she's not an ethical billionaire. she also made her money from other endeavors, not just this.

at this point in the interview, she had already made comments & questions about his appearance & he answered that. so why shouldn't he try to change the topic to something more important like his music? she was crossing boundaries it's just not right.

@kvtnisseverden The thing is,he approved the questions and his answers were crafted beforehand to address the whole of media. oprah was just a puppet for MJ in this interview, she was irrelevant, he wanted his thoughts out and used this interview instead of making a publication or something

while I agree interviews are rehearsed, MJ did not clear some of those questions and if you watch the full interview she was constantly interrupting him and changing the direction of the interview by not considering what he was saying

@kvtnisseverden No, both Oprah, and later on his own associates, stated that a lot of the questions she asked had not been pre-approved, though the topics in general were. & this interview did hurt him greatly, especially with what she ended up doing to him later on. He felt betrayed by her.

@kvtnisseverden guys, there’s this thing called EDITING 😂 easy to make it look like that was the next question when she may have asked it minutes later/earlier. seamless editing is undetectable, & the producers are gonna chop everything to the essentials… the more you know! 💡

watch the entire interview, she was cutting him off nonstop and disrespecting his boundaries. yes, they edited the interview but not to that extent.

@kvtnisseverden In 1993 everyone speculated about his appearance & he knew it,but some of her questions were designed to subordinate him, to make him defensive, and catch him off guard. He saw his contributions to the arts as more significant than the tabloid fodder she was tasked to delve into.
