The way this guy analyzed Rockstar Mission Design needs to be studied… “open world but linear mission design with no real freedom” I think there’s a point here and hopefully GTAVI brings a lot of changes when it comes to missions… any thoughts? 🤔

During this section in GTA V; I got stuck my vehicle between some rocks and I was trying to get it out As soon as I managed to get un-stuck, the Rockstar’s hand holding mechanism kicked in and the game decided it was a mission failed, prompting me to retry the mission. I don’t think these unnecessary mission failed screens should appear so often, especially in GTA VI. This is somewhat of an exaggeration but you get the point, sometimes just trying to take a different route or approach during a mission will get you the mission failed screen Recent Rockstar Games are rated M (GTA 6 too probably), so I don’t understand why Rockstar likes to treat gamers who play these games like children. Anyone with a logical brain will know that they’re stuck so they can pause the screen to restart from a checkpoint or destroy the vehicle to get the mission failed screen. I really hope that GTA VI offers more freedom for players when it comes to approaching missions and situation like these ones.

I will never be convinced that "Red Dead 2 has bad gameplay" The immersive mechanics and linear mission design were both perfect and are why so many missions are memorable. The movement is immersive, just walking around feels grounded, and it never once felt "clunky" to me🤷‍♂️

Stairs and ladders are fine, but the proper adventurer should be able to overcome any obstacle! Game has a climbing mechanic just like in Dragon's Dogma or Thief. Hopefully this will allow me to add a lot of verticality to the level design! #indiedev #indiegame
