There is so much greatness happening in the WNBA, and it’s being ignored because people don’t want to celebrate it when the league won’t even protect its own players from unnecessary targeted behavior. I came to the WNBA because of Clark. I have become a fan of other players through watching Fever games and other games subsequently since I have gotten here. I did it reluctantly because of media members like this, who continually labeled all the new fans as bad. Said we didn’t do our homework, needed to respect the legends, and we needed to understand our favorite wasn’t the best and there would be an adjustment period because she was going to play with grown women. But imagine a world where they didn’t pushback on new fans coming in thinking their favorite was the best, and just welcomed them and organically let them become fans of other players and the WNBA. Imagine their priority was to grow the game, rather than to gate keep it.
