The Doctor is ethically wrong and myopic in her reasoning. Although her rationale is reasonable, she went about it The wrong way. Educating the family is still an intervention, involving CPS over ‘wrong diet choice’ puts the child at greater risk. The grandmother’s answer of “I gave him because he doesn’t feel well” shows she wasn’t intentionally trying to harm the child but is just ignorant. Educating her would have solved this.
