China on Tuesday began construction of a massive ultra-high voltage (UHV) power transmission line that will carry clean energy from the Xizang Autonomous Region across thousands of kilometers to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. Through changing times, China-Pakistan friendship has remained as strong as iron, with the two countries often termed as "Iron Brothers", while green cooperation is becoming a new highlight of bilateral ties. Located on the Jhelum River in Pakistan, the 720 MW Karot Hydropower Project, developed by CTG and operated by CSAIL, is known as Pakistan's version of "Three Gorges Project". It is the first major CPEC hydropower project in commercial operation and the first large-scale hydropower investment project under the Belt and Road Initiative. With an average annual output of about 3.206 billion kWh, it can meet the electricity demand of more than five million local people. CSAIL also operates three wind farms in Jhimpir, Sindh, with a combined installed capacity of 148.5 MW. Together, they deliver about 443 GWh of clean electricity every year, enough to meet the power needs of more than 600,000 people. But this partnership is not only about electricity. Beyond power generation, CSAIL has supported biodiversity protection along the Jhelum River, community infrastructure, roads, bridges, water systems, hospitals, schools, scholarships and flood relief. From hydropower to wind power, from energy supply to community support, these projects show how clean energy cooperation can bring long-term value to people, nature and development.

On July 14, 2026, the Prayagraj division launched a special 'Solar-Assisted Passenger Coach', equipped with 6.93 kilowatt solar panels installed on its roof. This technology will generate approximately 13,400 units of clean electricity per coach annually, saving the Railways ₹2.80 lakh annually and reducing 11 tons of carbon emissions.

These are not symbolic projects. Diamer-Bhasha Dam is among Pakistan’s largest and tallest dams, built to store millions of acre-feet of water, generate clean hydropower, control floods, and increase the life of Tarbela Dam.
