The youngest chick is testing out some revolutionary new acrobatic techniques for getting food. They still need a bit of practice... So far, everyone is growing very well and look very healthy. All of them are eating well, which is very nice to see at this age.

But always holding my breath until the itty-bitty (in every brood, every species) gets his/her share in a feeding … 🫣

Do they have poor eyesight initially? Right after hatching, they seem to be responding more to vocalizations and at times even facing in the wrong direction. (Love the littlest's creative efforts to get attention--and food!)

Yes, eyesight is pretty poor at the start

1) we don’t believe so 2) in most of the cases we’ve seen at this nest, it typically has not gotten very far in development, so likely not due to incubation 3) it mostly gets ignored. Typically it gets kicked aside or broken accidentally

I suppose that enfluffeling all three chicks, especially after they grow little bit more, is going to be a grand and impressive maneuver. More so for Lou if he could ever do it, being smaller than Annie.

MAM! MEATLOAF!

What’s the likelihood that the fourth egg also hatches? Are we past the point where it would have hatched or is there still hope?

Pretty much 0 at this point.

I have to admit, I get a bit stressed watching the moves these little ones go through over the course of a day, whether it be from lack of strength or a parent stepping on them. I am so grateful they’re all doing well so far.

@Annaleen Chances for all 3 surviving are good?

@Annaleen Yep! Peregrines are usually very good about making sure everyone is getting everything they need

@Annaleen Excellent, that makes me happy. I'm not bright but I know bald eagles have a problem keeping more than one eaglet alive to maturity.

"Some revolutionary new acrobat techniques" 😂

Something is wrong. They are waiting for other parent to come back. I hope everything is ok🙏

I think everything seems fine. Both Lou and Annie have been around in the last 20 minutes or so

🙏

Hi! I've been watching this nest since 2020. How many rounds of fundraising do you have each season?

Looks like the youngest chick is playing dead! 😂
