Then came the final insult from the previous administration: despite staying here unlawfully, Soliman was granted a work authorization in 2023. John Roberts asked the question on everyone’s mind: “What does that say, Karoline, about their vetting process?” Leavitt didn’t sugarcoat it. “They had no vetting process.” She said...

🔥 Karoline Leavitt just dropped the hammer. An Egyptian national—let in under Biden’s open border—set Americans on fire in Boulder, Colorado. Now she’s calling for a nation-wide crackdown: No more unvetted illegals. No more terror attacks on American soil. And her warning to immigrants couldn’t be clearer: “It is a privilege, not a right, to enter the United States of America.” 🧵 THREAD

An act of terrorism in Boulder has thrust Biden’s border bloodbath back into the spotlight. Authorities say 45-year-old Egyptian national Mohamad Sabry Soliman launched a targeted firebomb attack injuring six elderly people. But this isn’t just about one man. It’s about how he got here—and why he was still here. Today, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt placed the blame squarely on immigration policy failures. “This terrorist came into our country under the previous administration,” she said. “Joe Biden's administration foolishly gave him a tourist visa, and that allowed him to unlawfully remain in our country.” Soliman didn’t sneak across a border—he overstayed a visa. And under current policy, that was enough to remain. “This individual should have been deported. Instead, he was welcomed here.” Three years later, that decision had real-world consequences. “And now, three years later, after coming to this country under Joe Biden's administration, he is lighting Jewish people on fire who were simply trying to peacefully pay respect to the hostages in Israel.” Leavitt called it what it was: a preventable act of terrorism. “This absolutely is an act of targeted terrorism,” she said. “The FBI and the Department of Justice are investigating it as such, and the president is going to ensure that this individual is held to the fullest extent of the law.” And her message didn’t stop with one attacker. “Not just this individual,” she warned, “but any individual, especially illegal criminals who engage in acts of terrorism, will be held accountable under this president.”

As more disturbing details come to the surface, the failures in the immigration system became harder to ignore. Fox News’ Sandra Smith reported that Soliman had 14 unlit Molotov cocktails with him when arrested—and that he proudly confessed, telling police he’d do it again. “He knew they were there,” Smith said. “He targeted them.” And this wasn’t someone hiding in the shadows. Soliman was known to federal immigration authorities. Yet somehow, he was still in the country. So Smith asked the obvious: “How do we make sure there are not more people like that out there in our streets in this country? How do we keep people safe?”

Leavitt pointed to what she described as a turning point in U.S. policy: a renewed effort to identify and deport illegal immigrants before they strike. “This administration has already done so much to ensure that we are deporting individuals who seek to do harm in our country and who are in our country illegally.” She cited a major ICE operation in Massachusetts—long considered a safe haven for undocumented immigrants—as a sign of that shift. “ICE Boston just announced the arrest of more than 1100 illegal aliens who were in Boston in the surrounding suburbs in Massachusetts, which was a sanctuary city for—a state for illegal aliens.” Then came the line that defined the Trump administration’s stance. “The only place this country should be a sanctuary for are law abiding American citizens.” Leavitt said President Trump has taken aggressive steps to not only secure the border but to overhaul how visas are granted and enforced. “He has also signed an executive order to streamline and make stricter our legal immigration process and our visa process.” Her warning to those in the country on temporary status was unmistakable. It struck like lightning. “It is a privilege, not a right, to enter the United States of America.” “And we are not going to allow people who are pushing anti-American values and especially engaging in acts of violence, to remain in our country.” “Your visa will be revoked and you will be deported.”

But the real fireworks came when reporters started pressing Leavitt about MS-13 gang member and alleged human trafficker Abrego Garcia—who had just been deported. “Who is responsible for this man and where he’s going to end up?” one asked. Leavitt wasn’t having it. “First of all,” she said, “President Bukele said he is not going to smuggle a foreign terrorist back into the United States of America—as many in this room and the Democrat Party seemingly want him to do.” Then she laid out the facts in plain English. “Abrego Garcia was a foreign TERRORIST. He is an MS-13 gang member. He was engaged in human trafficking. He illegally came into our country. So, deporting him back to El Salvador was always going to be the end result.” She made it clear he wasn’t coming back. “There is never going to be a world in which this individual is going to live a peaceful life in Maryland, because he is a foreign terrorist and an MS-13 gang member.” And for anyone still confused, she brought it back to the source. “Not only have we confirmed that—President Bukele yesterday in the Oval Office confirmed that as well. He went back to his home country where he will face consequences for his gang affiliation and his engagement in human trafficking.” Then came the line that made every reporter in the room shift in their seat: “I’m not sure what is so difficult about this for everyone in the media to understand,” she said. “It’s APPALLING—truly appalling—that there has been so much time covering this alleged human trafficker and gang member, MS-13 gang member.” She ended with five words that said it all: “It’s truly striking to me.” Shutdown.

Karoline Leavitt didn’t wait for the media to set the tone—she fired the first shot. Before a single question was asked, she went straight after The Washington Post for what she called a dishonest and manipulative headline on the fentanyl crisis. Their headline: “The mysterious drop in fentanyl seizures on the U.S.-Mexico border.” Leavitt called it what it was: spin. “How is this mysterious?” she asked. “There is no mystery about why there is a decrease in fentanyl coming into the United States!” She pointed directly to the administration’s border policies and cooperation with Mexico as the reason for the decline. “This administration’s strong border policies are the reason there has been a decrease in fentanyl trafficking,” she said. “His strengthened relationship with Mexican President Sheinbaum and all of the measures he has been taking to deter illegal human and drug trafficking at our United States southern border is the reason for plummeting fentanyl seizures at the U.S. Border.” But the issue wasn’t just the headline. It was what Leavitt described as intentional narrative engineering. “This is clearly trying to intentionally manipulate the minds of Americans, and I think the American people understand why there has been fentanyl drop.” And when the Post ignored the administration’s full explanation? “Our office responded to this inquiry, we provided a whole host of the reasons that fentanyl seizures have dropped at the southern border, and The Washington Post refused to run them,” she said. “And that’s despicable.”

NBC’s Gabe Gutierrez: “Regarding Venezuela, the President said yesterday that Secretary Hegseth had denied that that second strike — that reported second strike on an alleged drug boat on September 2 — the secretary said to the president that that didn't happen. But to clarify, I just wanted to clear this out. In his social media posts, Secretary Hegseth didn't go into details about that strike. He just said U.S. operations in the area were lawful. And he said that the story and media reports were fabricated. So, to be clear, does the administration deny that that second strike happened or did it happen and the administration denies that Secretary Hegseth gave the order?” Karoline Leavitt Karoline Leavitt: “The latter is true, Gabe, and I have a statement to read for you here. President Trump and Secretary Hegseth have made it clear that presidentially designated narco terrorist groups are subject to lethal targeting in accordance with the laws of war. With respect to the strikes in question on September 2, Secretary Hegseth authorized Admiral Bradley to conduct these kinetic strikes. Admiral Bradley worked well within his authority and the law, directing the engagement to ensure the boat was destroyed and the threat to the United States of America was eliminated. And I would just add one more point to remind the American public why these lethal strikes are taking place, because this administration has designated these narco terrorists as foreign terrorist organizations. The President has a right to take them out if they are threatening the United States of America, and if they are bringing illegal narcotics that are killing our citizens at a record rate, which is what they are doing. And under the previous administration, there was enough fentanyl trafficked into our country to kill every American man, woman and child many times over. And so, that's why you've seen a drastic difference in this administration's policy with respect to the last. And it's one of the many reasons the American public reelected this president and support this secretary of war in conducting these strikes.”
