We must see in-car FM radio protected by the EU's digital Networks Act. I am calling for this in order to protect our culture, access to impartial journalism, and societal resilience. Irish radio is some of the best on the world, and is an important part of our social fabric. Many of us get our news from it, and in a time of algorithms and polarisation, the unbiased and thorough journalism is key to our democracy. However FM radio also plays a major role in our societal resilience in the case of Internet outages. During storms, blackouts, or hybrid attacks, people can rely on their car radio to receive important updates about vital services. The EU Digital Networks Act must recognise the importance of in-car radio and ensure that every car driven in Europe contains one, so that we can stay connected and safe.

AI is changing the software engineering craft. Anders Hejlsberg (Anders Hejlsberg) - creator of C#, TypeScript and industry legend - on why code review needs to get more enjoyable in response: #1 - AI is shifting the craft from writing code, to reviewing code: "In a sense, we're all turning into project managers. We can have an army of junior programmers, called agents, that will just spit out reams of code but someone's got to have the big picture and review all of that. And so, increasingly, our craft is going from one of writing the code, to one of reviewing the code and building the architecture of the code and overseeing the work. It's a different kind of craft. It's a different kind of enjoyment. I've always liked writing the code. To me that was the fulfilling part, seeing it work. In a way, AI robs a little bit of that, because I am less interested in reviewing code." #2 - The code review experience should be improved: "I think we could also make the process of reviewing code much more interesting than it is today. I mean, today, you see a list of diffs in alphabetical order and now it's up to you to make heads or tails of it. There are more pedagogical ways of presenting that. And you could have commentary generated by the AI that tells you what the changes are and whatever, and then tries to guide you along. RP2040 LoRa Feather Tester Brains Upgrade Most of our testers use pretty simple gpio toggling to verify everything's connected - but for our Radio Feathers we want to also verify that the radio signal is connected through properly. so we use a separate radio to ping pong a message and check the RSSI. traditionally we did this with separate radio feathers but that got a little annoying to manage since they'd get lost or the battery would be dead just as we were about to get on with some testing. since our new fancy Tester Brains got an upgrade from teensy to pico, we also revised to add an EYE-SPI connector which brings plenty of GPIO and SPI over. now we have the second RFM module connected to the tester itself so it's all-in-one. a lot easier to manage!

There is no such thing as a safe or trustworthy ALPR. Companies like Flock are driven by profit and in order to compete for contracts they have to create more and more powerful surveillance tools so they can sell more of our data. As long as we live in a system driven by profit where private companies own and control our data there is no way to remove the dangers of ALPRs. That is why we are here today to call for a total ban on ALPRs in Chandler.

There is no such thing as a safe or trustworthy ALPR. It's such an exciting time to be an artist on the internet. We now have the technology to build out our worlds, in spaces we own, it is truly the age of ideas. I've built a new home for my projects here, and in advance of my next major release with Transient Labs on June 16th, I want to share what I've made with you all, and open a dialogue about how we can use these tools as artists to enhance the experience of making and sharing our art. This is an overview of davekrugman dot com (link in thread), specifically about new sites for Drip Drop and DRIVE, and to that end, I'll give a work from each project to someone who reshares this post. If you are an artist who is curious on how to build a site for yourself, I would be happy to help, I'm an open book, ask me in the comments below. There are so many tools to use- I mostly used Claude / Anthropic- and now we can literally speak our ideas into reality , the possibilities feel truly infinite, if you have curiosity, patience, and a bit of time to explore a new frontier. For too long, artists have had to build on the rented space of social platforms, and now it feels like we can really create sovereign spaces that we own and make ours with our unique vision. Here is an example of an SEO/AEO workflow: 1) Read Google Search Console 2) Pull the keyword data from Ahrefs or SEMrush 3) Look in the CMS to find out if the post is already there 4) Put the keywords in order by search volume and buyer intent 5) Read the pages that are at the top of the results now 6) Add the founder's point of view 7) Write the post, the meta title and the internal links Then the agent sends all of it to a person for approval. The agent can only do this if you connect it to your live business data and your tools. "The tools are going to keep changing, but the workflow is the thing to actually learn." Learn the workflow first.
