older devs on the platform seem to have been strangely lobotomized after ai started existing and it leaves me baffled

i dont get it how did he use AI if the game was released around 2014? did they update the codes all of the sudden when AI became a thing?

verdict: he's probably right, and roblox paved the road itself. roblox launched its own AI coding tool, code assist, for creators back in march 2023. so a game from around 2014 doesn't need AI in the original code, just in the updates since. my bet: "no AI" on roblox ends up meaning no AI art, not no AI code

idk, i think the “everyone else is doing it too” argument could MAYBE work with someone new to development but nikilis has generational wealth off a game made 10 years ago that compared to most roblox games, isn’t very hard to update. i think he can hire someone

i still have games which are up despite me being unable to update due to the shitty age verification mandate, and THOSE games have zero AI in them (the earlier half wasn't even during the time of AI being able to generate code) play my games if you wanna escape the AI i guess

Honestly I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. As a society we need to be able to accept everything being AI fast because give it a year and everything will be generated in some sort of way

He's being exaggerative but he does have a point. Even if it isn't the egrigous, fully AI games you'll often see on the front page, a lot of games will use AI to make code that can be more tedious for a human to make. I don't see much issue with this specific use case tbh

i might get flamed for this but i think that ai is sorta fine as long as it's for stuff like debugging, learning or minor assistance and as long as it's not embedded into the codebase, but not with vibecoding an entire project or doing the entire work.
