There are now 17 comets while 3I/ATLAS makes it's passage in the Solar System. Above average. Interestingly they seem to concentrate and then get more distant when 3I/ATLAS goes away. Simulation goes until June 2026. I wonder if there's any connection with these and 3I/ATLAS "visit"

Is solar Activity linked to comets? Sure seems so after the last month of activity (plus many past examples). If you really examine this composite animation I created, it becomes clear how the biggest solar flares and CMEs aligned either with 3I/ATLAS, A6 Lemmon, or T1 ATLAS.

3I/ATLAS SPOTTED ON SOLAR CORONAGRAPH! First spotted by amateur astronomer Worachate Boonplod (see top comment), I then analyzed the last 7 days of CCOR-1 footage and 3I/ATLAS is clearly observed (circled in red) at the edges of the coronagraph where the brightness of the solar wind is minimal. Close examination shows this object moving in a retrograde direction faster than the background stars and along the expected vector as 3I/ATLAS based on prior astronomical measurements. In prior videos I mentioned that it was a possibility that 3I/ATLAS would be visible on coronagraphs, but I didn't peg it at a high likelihood due to it's apparent magnitude being ~10. Very cool to see our interstellar visitor still on course and behaving "normally", though the Sun is certainly in frenzy blasting 3I/ATLAS with BIG coronal mass ejections! #3IATLAS #astronomy #spaceweather

The page includes a tracking tool, that features the assets, and events listed below: NASA Assets Observing Comet 3I/ATLAS NASA's Hubble Space Telescope captured this image of interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS on July 21, 2025, when the comet was 277 million miles from Earth. Hubble revealed a teardrop-shaped cocoon of dust coming off of the comet's solid, icy nucleus. Because Hubble was tracking the comet moving along a hyperbolic trajectory, the stationary background stars are streaked in the exposure. Hubble’s continuing observations allow astronomers to more accurately estimate the size of the comet’s nucleus. Observations as of Aug. 20, 2025, indicate that the upper limit on its diameter is 3.5 miles (5.6 kilometers), though it could be as small as 1,444 feet (440 meters) across. 🚨Cristina Gomez just dropped a big update on 3I/ATLAS, claiming Gemini North picked up multiple objects traveling with it. She even listed them: C/2025 A6 Lemon, C/2025 R2 Swan, C/2025 K1 Atlas… plus the interstellar visitor itself. It sounds dramatic but here’s the reality. Those aren’t companions. They’re just separate comets, cataloged long before 3I/ATLAS came through. No data yet confirms any swarm or cluster traveling with it. The multiple light points seen by amateurs were likely background stars, dust jets, or frame artifacts, but nothing officially verified. Now to the parts that are real: 3I/ATLAS is chemically bizarre. Spectroscopy shows it’s carbon chain depleted, basically missing the molecules (C₂, C₃) that make normal comets glow green, and yet… it still has a faint green hue in photos!
