there are ONLY 25 blimps in existence. Yes, 25. Only 128 people in the U.S. are capable of pilot them. Of those 128, just 17 are full time with the gig. There are currently 48 active U.S astronauts A blimp pilot is more rare than an astronaut here...

There aren’t very many blimps because they really aren’t actually good for much besides PR, and they’re quite expensive and occasionally hazardous. The few that are around (Goodyear, MetLife) etc, tend to stay pretty busy, especially during football season, so that explains the cities. As for everywhere else… well, they have to get from city to city and they’re not very fast — top out at only 60–70mph, so it takes a while, especially if they’re fighting a headwind.

Wow! I had no idea that there were only 25 left in existence, but apparently that is correct. The cost to operate blimps & the advancements of drones are the main reasons why blimps are no longer being used.
