Why is everyone pretending to be surprised with KWAM 1 and his irresponsible song? Men like him are too often given undeserved respect by greedy vultures who will chase wealth at any cost. Worse still, this reflects a deeper cultural malaise. I know Palestinians who work every day to advocate for their people. And every day for years now they've had to push back on Western "activists" hijacking their cause and making a mockery of it. And now we're here, with Drake, a man who scolded a Palestinian man for not talking about Palestine enough, rapping about how he has more money than friends and also "Free Palestine." When "any advocacy is good advocacy" this is what you are left with. Macklemore, a man who dressed up as a disgusting stereotype of a Jew is the martyr of the movement. People are even suggesting sending money to him, a rich man in a land free of war. Other artists like Drake are invoking the name of Palestinians to sell more records. No names like Billie Eilish's brother and Lukas Graham are throwing artists who refuse to cash in the name Palestine for a quick buck under the bus. It's just so disgusting and pathetic and sad.
