I am not here to apologise, just like all the other branches, there are successes, but there is work to be done. At least in our favour, 15 years down the line, we still have a bicameral Parliament, we are able to impeach. There are two problems that I see: the problem between the National Assembly and the Senate. MPs are yet to learn that there is no government or opposition inside of Parliament, there is only the majority and minority and collectively we are supposed to oversight the Executive

Sadly, the fight for women's rights is not won yet. Not outside Europe and also not inside Europe. We saw what Hamas did to Jewish women on October 7. We saw the troubling images of a young woman defying the despicable morality police in Iran. We know that Sharia courts do exist in Europe. Everywhere, rape crimes are too often unpunished. This morning we started the confirmation hearings in the LIBE Committee Press I urge the European Commission to make sure rape is criminalised equally all across the EU and there is one justice system for all women. On our police and justice bodies: Since its creation, Europol has received strong support from the Member States and from this Parliament. I myself am a strong supporter of our police forces. However, good police work is wasted if justice doesn’t follow. The police need to see that their work is leading to change; people need to see that justice is being done. We are working to get an unconditioned political decision by the European Council to open accession talks with Ukraine. It is a matter of principle for Ukraine to implement all seven European Commission recommendations and fulfill everything that is required at this point of our path to EU membership. The success of our country and people will be the success of Europe as a whole, both economically and socially, as well as in expanding Ukraine's ties with the world. This is why, even during a full-scale war, we are working steadily but persistently to strengthen our institutions and legislation. And I am grateful to everyone who contributes to this by supporting relevant decisions and putting them into action.

Ukraine needs further timely defense assistance - precisely the kind that can thwart Russia's revenge plan for this year - their offensive plan. The European Parliament’s position remains significant to ensure that all of our agreements in Europe regarding defense and shared strength are practically implemented. We need further principled political support both for Ukraine and for the entire project of a united Europe, which is the European Union. No European nation that shares and defends common European values should be left out of European unity. In Ukraine, we have met all of the necessary conditions for the adoption of the negotiating framework in June of this year, as previously agreed, and the actual start of Ukraine's EU accession talks. It is equally important for European unity to practically work for other nations that deserve to join the EU to also fulfil their candidate status. Balkan nations and Moldova are part of Europe, and I am also confident that there will be Europe Days for Georgia and Belarus. All of this is already reflected in the positions of the European Parliament, and it is really important that they are implemented.

No one must use the ANC name to advance their personal issues, the ANC never sends people anywhere to do wrong doing.
