I remember being 11 and playing that game; we were too poor to have a PC at home. My dad worked at @BestBuy at the time, so my mom would drop me off with him at work, and he would let me play it on one of their display PCs.

Wing Commander III had nice cinematics. But Super Wing Commander was much more stylish, and had good soundtrack.
