There is a better, more subtle way to include a trans character in your fantasy game that does not involve a performative apology and a lecture using parlance that has no place in a game like this. This is basically self-parody. It's a shame because the game is, imo,... show more

IMHO, the main problem is that instead of writing "a character that is trans", they write "A TRANS character", and thus all the writing becomes about how the character is trans first and foremost, as if that is the only thing that matters. Samething often happen with ethnicity

Yep, it's super condescending! Honestly, treating people differently based on their gender *is bigotry* full stop. And that includes writing a character this way.

Scenes and dialogues like this are popping up everywhere. The suspect is that most of the game is this way with, also, a bland gameplay and non threatening, piloted dialogue choices to avoid any "conflict". Looks more like a bad group terapy session.

I haven't encountered any, and from what I've heard it's one particular questline that goes this route, but we shall see.

nothing like including a struggle session outside of cringe like this, have you noticed you have to be agreeable with the other NPCs that join you? Or can you play a jerk character and really PO them Been reading you can't really go 'Renegade'

There are a range of responses, some of which are joking/mocking. You can definitely be a jerk at times, but there's not a clear-cut renegade path. It's not all nice responses, though. And you do have to make choices on who to help, and other things that characters disapprove of

I saw this clip.. and I find it ironic that she lectures people about making a situation about themselves, but she did the same shit when she did push-ups for using the wrong pronouns and had to tell everyone why she did it...

Cyberpunk 2077 did it in the best way possible. Because it wasn't about the character being trans.

I can not imagine a more boring conversation to have to sit and watch while playing a video game. Moreover didn’t “pulling a barv” just put all of the attention and focus on her? Exactly what she said you shouldn’t do?

Yep
