Everyone should be up in arms until hempcrete is a commonly used material in nearly all new constructions. A great building material and insulator with the added benefit of also purifying the soil it is grown in. Remove heavy metals and other toxins, turn that toxic hemp into hempcrete locking those toxins away.

Hemp was a major cash crop in Kentucky (Appalachia core) for fiber/rope in the 1800s-early 1900s, though tobacco and others competed and it wasn't universally "#1." Production had already declined before 1937. The Marihuana Tax Act (pushed by Harry Anslinger/FBN) imposed crushing taxes and regs on all cannabis, killing legal industrial hemp—no real distinction from marijuana then. DuPont's nylon competed with hemp fiber and timber interests favored wood pulp, with some indirect influence, but the core driver was anti-drug prohibition momentum, not a proven DuPont conspiracy to crown pine for paper. Hemp paper hype existed (Popular Mechanics), but wood scaled better. Hempcrete and modern hemp materials are indeed fire/mold-resistant and promising. The ban's effects lingered, but revival is underway.

Weak structurally. Labor intensive. Chemicals used to grow this junk destroys the environment. Cotton and bamboo, 100 times more versatile and easier to grow. The clothes uncontrollably wrinkle like a linen table cloth and look like some hippy crap when actually worn. It is a niche market at best but not cost effective for mass production. Try again.

Because they needed to find an export for Canada who is useless and would suffocate if it wasn’t leeching off the United States. Alberta wants to break free because they have great cattle herds and oil, but the rest of Canada is a bunch of lazy communists that would die if the US stopped sending hundreds of millions in foreign aid

Hemp and cannabis in general are one of the best proofs that governments don’t like the people they should serve.. and people in general, I may add.. Shame in them.. we need a way to fight back as some of their misdeeds get noticed a century later or even longer..

I love Hempcrete, but, the "does not burn, does not rot" argument has nothing to do with Hemp. That's the Lime that does that. Hemp by itself burns phenomenally well, and rots, just like any other plant, based on complex carbon bonds. Any eco-crete works just as well.
