Bill Whitaker of 60 Minutes: Is that whole idea being lost in the harsh rhetoric by the administration? Me: The attack on universities is a tragic blunder. For all the foibles of universities, and there are many, and I pointed them out, universities' research makes life better, massively so. Why would you want to cripple it? It's something that the United States does really, really well.

That’s why the UAE, a Muslim country, stopped sending its students to British universities. Can’t have them training in Muslim Brotherhood ISIS camps instead of actual campuses. 🤷🏻‍♂️

#WATCH | Delhi: The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) had written to vice chancellors across the country, on 15th May, urging them to sever academic ties with institutions in Pakistan, Turkiye, and Bangladesh Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General, AIU says, " ...Our Armed Forces are fighting on borders. We academicians also need to fight at the universities...certain countries like Bangladesh and Turkey have supported Pakistan. So we wrote a letter on 15th May, to all universities and appealed to them to cancel all the MoUs they have with Bangladesh and Pakistan...there is no point in having academic ties with enemy countries...several universities have cancelled their MoUs..." In my country, the UAE, antisemitism is not excused as free speech; it is a crime. Extremism is not tolerated, and the Muslim Brotherhood is banned as a terrorist organization. Yet after the horrors of 7 October, the world watched a painful contradiction: in some universities in Australia and the UK, Jewish students were driven out of classrooms by crowds shouting in defense of Hamas..an attack not only on Israel, but on the very idea of humanity. A classroom should be a place of light, not a place where fear follows a student to the door.
