According to the organizers, the protests were held in more than 100 cities and drew more than 45,000 participants. In Berlin and other cities, participants took to the streets with slogans including “Your war — without us,” “Why us, not you,” and “Not a single person, not a single cent for the Bundeswehr.” The protests were prompted by the introduction of mandatory medical examinations for 18-year-old men and the possibility of reinstating conscription if there are not enough volunteers.
