It’s frankly stunning—and not in a good way—to witness the calibre of elected officials running this country. We’re practically living in a Walter Mitty world, sustained by fiction, where facts and accountability are treated as inconveniences. Let’s be clear: the Central Statistics Office couldn’t even stand by crime statistics from An Garda Síochána; years of these figures have been "under reservation" by the CSO, essentially a polite way of saying they’re unreliable at best. This is an idiocracy on full display. This country is in serious trouble.
