The devastating numbers of Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure: Since the start of the heating season, Russia has attacked Ukrainian energy facilities and heat supply systems 256 times, the Security Service of Ukraine said. Russian forces deliberately targeted Ukraine's 11 hydroelectric power plants and 45 major combined heat and power plants. In addition, they carried out 49 targeted aerial strikes on thermal power plants and 151 strikes on electrical substations. Nearly 80% of them are buildings where heating had only been restored after strikes on January 9. We also paid attention to the negotiation process aimed at achieving peace. Ukraine always constructively supports efforts that can help achieve a dignified peace. The only reason the war is still ongoing is Russia’s unwillingness to end it.

Through D․TRADING we`ve completed our first LNG cargo purchased on an FOB basis, managing the full journey from Louisiana to Lithuania. The Gaslog Houston arrived in Klaipėda yesterday with 160,000 cubic metres of LNG. Once re-gasified, this gas will flow to Ukraine, Baltic countries, Poland and neighbouring markets, strengthening energy security across Central and Eastern Europe. Ukraine needs around 4 bcm of gas imports this winter following russian attacks on its production and storage infrastructure. Strengthening air defense is a priority for Ukraine. It is important to develop the energy network between our countries, which will help Ukraine amid shortages caused by ongoing Russian attacks on our energy infrastructure, and also support Romania when we have a surplus and can export electricity. Therefore, cooperation in the energy sector was also a key topic of our discussion. Particular attention was given to expanding border crossing points between Ukraine and Romania. We also discussed work on an intergovernmental agreement on joint oversight at the Ukraine–Romania border crossings. I thank Ilie Bolojan for the meeting and for his support of Ukraine.

In Ternopil, residential nine-story buildings were hit, causing fires. Unfortunately, there is significant destruction, and there may be people trapped under the rubble. All necessary emergency services are on the ground, trying to save every life. As of now, dozens of people have been injured and, sadly, 9 people have been killed. My condolences to their families. There was also a massive strike, beginning already in the evening, against our Kharkiv. Dozens of people have been wounded in the city, including children. Energy facilities, transport, and civilian infrastructure have been damaged. Our energy infrastructure in the Ivano-Frankivsk region was attacked as well. Three people were wounded, including two children. In the Lviv region, critical infrastructure and energy facilities were targeted. A person was injured in the Donetsk region.
