Today is my daughter’s birthday and she truly is my whole world. When I look at her, I see innocence, hope and a future that deserves to be safe, secure and full of dignity. I never wanted to be the person standing on the frontlines but life gave me no choice. The establishment and the police failed me and they failed so many of you. As a parent, how could I stay silent? Rumor has it I’m still swimming… 😂 Lol, but hey, I’m about to get real for a second. There have been many moments recently where I’ve felt like the currents have been too tough to swim through… All I wanted to do was throw in the towel and come up for air. But it’s in moments like this where I remind myself that I CAN swim… and I’m actually a damn strong swimmer at that! I may have to hold my breath for a little longer, or paddle a bit harder, but I always make it to the other side. So this is your reminder to just keep swimming. If I can do it, so can you. I know this may not be a big deal to some but I noticed it immediately. The eye contact. One thing that was instilled in me at a young age was the importance of making eye contact when someone is speaking to you. It’s a simple habit, but it says a lot. It shows respect. It shows that you’re present and paying attention. That’s why it’s something I emphasize at every clinic I run. When I’m teaching, I expect athletes to look me in the eye. Not because I’m trying to be super strict, but because learning how to communicate, listen, and show respect will take them much further than anything I can teach them about fielding a ground ball or swinging a bat. While I don’t know Coach Murphy or Jocelyn Briski, the fact that this is something she naturally does tells me a lot about her character and the program that helps shape her. Softball is about so much more than softball.

The way people treat us does impact how we see ourselves. Past partners made me feel like I was easy to forget and even easier to let go of. Most of them made me feel so unimportant after pursuing me when I initially wasn’t interested. I’m learning the way people treat me reflects how I feel about myself because if I believe that a man that can move on from me easily was ever meant to be with me- then I’m not respecting what a treasure it is to be let into my heart. When a partner leaves they only leave you better off. In loving myself, my work is forgiving myself for not trusting my gut. My heart knows what’s meant for me and that’s holding myself, my body, and my love in the highest regard. Don’t tolerate less than what you deserve. Don’t settle. We’re so much better than that. 30. If I’m being honest, reaching 30 feels a little surreal. For the longest time, I felt like I wasn’t achieving enough. While everyone seemed to be hitting milestones, I often found myself wondering if I was falling behind or if I was doing enough with my life. The past years haven’t always been easy. There were days when simply getting through the day felt like an accomplishment. Days when my mind was my biggest challenge. Days when I questioned my worth, my progress, and where I was headed. But turning 30 has made me realize something: maybe not all achievements come with certificates, promotions, titles, or trophies. Sometimes, an achievement is choosing to keep going. Sometimes, it’s surviving the days you thought would break you. Sometimes, it’s finding reasons to smile again. Oddly enough, some of those reasons came from places I never expected. Recently, #CarTon and #WinRi became little sources of comfort during my low days. It’s funny because I never imagined that following their stories and moments online would have that kind of impact on me, but somehow they helped brighten days that felt particularly heavy. Of course, I wouldn’t have made it this far without the people who continue to stand beside me. To my husband, my family, my friends, and everyone who has supported me through the highs and lows—thank you. Thank you for your patience, understanding, encouragement, and for loving me even during the times when I struggled to love myself. As I enter this new decade, I’m trying to be kinder to myself. Maybe I don’t need to have everything figured out. Maybe I don’t need to measure my life against everyone else’s timeline. I’m still here. Still learning. Still growing. At 54, here’s something I think about a lot: The good old days don’t feel like it at the time. It feels more like struggle. From the age of 25 to 45, you’re in the thick of it—building a career, raising kids, trying to get ahead (or just keep up with life). It’s so easy to lose perspective and forget that… You’re in the sweet spot. One day you’ll look back on that struggle as the best of times. Every season of life has its pros and cons—triumphs and challenges—but there’s nothing quite like the prime adult years. So what are we to do about it? Simply recognize that you’re living your good old days right now. Slow down. Savor it. Smell the roses. Because I’m here to tell you… The days are long, but the years fly by. 🎥: First flight for my younger daughter. I thought I was climbing the mountain—little did I know I was standing on the peak.

I used to do bodybuilding shows. 6 months of exhausting prep for each show. Losing usually 25-30 lbs to step on stage. Tracking every calorie. Weighing every piece of food. Training everyday, lifting and cardio. It was intense… but when you are in that world, you get addicted to seeing yourself shrink. New striations every month. And then it’s finally show day and everyone congratulates you on your hard work and discipline. While I ultimately stopped bodybuilding because I think there are drawbacks, I am grateful for the experience because pregnancy is also very much literally building a body, and your endurance and dedication to health is just as, if not more important. But when you are pregnant, you are only growing, getting heavier, more uncomfortable. There is no aesthetic reward. No one cares if you work out or not, in fact some people will try and tell you to “just rest”… So you have to do it for you. And of course, your little baby. As I near the end of my pregnancy I’m grateful I was able to work out for nearly the whole thing. This is my first pregnancy and I’ll admit it hasn’t been as bad as I feared and I contribute staying active to part of that. I was still rock climbing until 27 weeks. I’m still doing daily walks and while my intensity and frequency of lifting has scaled back, I’m still doing something. Pregnancy is longer than any bodybuilding prep I’ve ever done and of course the reward is greater than anything I could dream of, my baby boy. But then women are left to “bounce back” and try and get their body back. I’m obviously not postpartum yet but I’m glad I was able to stay somewhat fit this pregnancy so hopefully the recovery isn’t so hard. I broke my femur three years ago and truly learned what it meant to start from scratch. And while recovery isn’t something I look forward to, at least I had time to prepare for this one, so I hope it goes well!

Usually I don’t speak on political issues often however Charlie Kirk’s death (RIP) hits a little too close to home. Perhaps it is because anyone who has some resemblance of a following who is outspoken against any narrative online has probably received some sort of threat in their inbox. (I know I have) It is baffling to me that one could harbour such a large amount of hate inside of them to want to have another silenced for having differing opinions than their own. I think about all my outspoken friends who are in positions faced to the public and of course myself and what this potentially means for all of us. This of course, would never stop me from speaking out to what’s right, so perhaps that is also why I wanted to make a comment. To me it is disgusting behaviour to mock/be happy about the death of people you disagree with that have done nothing wrong. I think about all my friends, family who could be wrongfully persecuted based off the delusions of perceived “sides”. The amount of hate manufactured and projected onto you for just living your life and not complying to a certain ideal is insane. I don’t like fear mongering but I also think it’s important to stay vigilant to what’s going on around you. It is a very real reality that there are people out there that hate you just for simply being you and what you represent to them. We’ve seen evidence of this twice this week and I suspect more to come unfortunately. I am always hopeful so I will leave this message on a positive note, that just as much hate has also been met with just as much love. There are many amazing kind hearted people out there standing up for what’s right and building community, coming together. Even if they are moving in silence behind the scenes or in front stage, I see you and I honour your work.

Transparency post: (will delete) This is a video of me giving up in real time. I’ve been having a rough few days. Despite it being my highest income month from UGC & despite the opportunities I’ve been getting, I’ve been feeling really discouraged. After crying on and off all day, I wanted to tough it out and get a project done. I felt that my energy was off but kept filming until I started stumbling on some words and couldn’t take it anymore. All this to say. UGC is NOT easy no matter what anyone tells you. It’s a 1 man business and you’re responsible for every last bit of your successes or failures. On top of it all, you still have to keep up with your personal life and responsibilities. So the pressure is intense and it’s inevitable. I’m not posting this because I have an inspirational message to share, but I’m posting this to show new creators that despite often seeing success stories, there is often a lot of pain and struggle behind those stories. So be prepared, make your mental health a priority along your journey. And whatever you do, don’t lose yourself in this field. #ugccommunity

A few days ago Jerod McDaniel shared a quote along the lines of “horses made for war don’t dance well at weddings” I think there are a lot of people like myself that know how plants… or livestock.. or a pasture or even building a house or pouring concrete work. We just want to do what we do. The weather worked out well this year for this. We’re going to be 👍 I could grow about anything, but I like to do it my own way. I sometimes wish I didn’t have to predict or guess what people will do… or markets… and the all the corresponding things that entails. I know you can’t just do your craft, but sometimes you want to just immerse yourself in something you have a more complete understanding of. I watch people like Adam Chappell do this with cotton. Zack Smith come up with farmonius designs Intergrazing livestock. We could do so much cool shit, if only we could just have the local markets, infrastructure… if the average person could have that connection and means to trade with the local farm / farmer that just wanted to just do it…be him or herself Maybe I left you hanging with the main idea here. I think there are a lot of different people who are really good at different things, but many of us have to sand off our edges that give us our edge. I love to think in the lens of the 🌱
