Just 34 years ago, #Ethiopia became a landlocked country without the knowledge or consent of the Ethiopian people. Both the Port of #Massawa and the Port of #Assab were constructed by Ethiopians and funded by Ethiopian resources. It is a shame that the rest of the world watched silently while rebels and Ethiopia's historical enemies transformed Ethiopia into a landlocked nation. Now, the world should stand with Ethiopia to help restore our access to the sea.

Bacha Debele never believed Assab was Ethiopian — and here’s the proof. In his now-famous interview, the general inadvertently admits two things: first, that the #Ethiopian army was crushed by the #Eritrean Defence Forces on the Burre front comprehensively; and second, that he himself — the commander of that front — didn’t even know why they were fighting there, because he believed there is no military reason to fight in the Burre front. Everyone knows what that war in #Burre was about. The EPRDF/TPLF forces tried to seize #Assab at the end of their invasion — a desperate move to tell the Ethiopian public, “we got Assab,” as consolation for their devastating losses elsewhere.
