There is something deeply, deeply wrong if MPs vote to make their own constituents worse off. I am proud to stand up for the 10,467 people of Blyth and Ashington who claim PIP.

Absolutely spot on from Ian Lavery and frankly, it's a rare gust of working class backbone in that mausoleum of millionaires we call Parliament. Imagine standing there, in your taxpayer funded suit, flipping through your expenses claim, while voting to gut the very lifeline your own constituents rely on to survive. That ain’t politics that’s betrayal dressed as procedure. Personal Independence Payment (PIP) isn’t a luxury. It’s not some cheeky extra for people living the high life. It’s oxygen for people crushed by disability, illness, and a system that treats them like they’re lying until proven dead. And now, under microscope of Starmer's Britain, they’re trying to slash it all under the guise of "reform." If you vote to make your own people worse off, you're not an MP. You’re a manager in a death factory. You’re the boot on the neck. You don’t represent a community you represent cruelty. So hats off to Lavery. That’s what representation looks like. Not performance, not party games but loyalty to your people. MPs should have to face every constituent they shaft in person. Let’s see how brave they are without the Westminster bubble shielding their shame.

The 12 Democrats who make the most sense for 2028.

@BrikKirby Get out of Labour Ian. You are propping up the party that is attacking the disabled residents of Blyth and Ashington. You aren't helping your constituents, you are selling them out. Give them an alternative to Labour to fight for.

Shame @ChiOnwurah supports these heartless cuts when the North East of England is gonna be the worst affected by it making deprivation here even worse. A MP who used to have socialist values yet backs the heartless cruel cuts that will make the ecomony worse

And cold pensioners? Not many wealthy ones in Blyth and Ashington!

Didn't you abstain on the winter fuel payment?

Those constituants are lucky to have you, I’m glad you and so many of your colleagues are starting to take a stand against these absolutely immoral cuts

There are around 75k people in this constituency. That means 1 in 7 are on PIP. What the hell?

The total population of Blyth is 40,000 and Ashington is 30,000. 1 in 7 claim PIP. Ouch! 3.6m people in UK claim PIP which is about 1 in 20.

Thank you Ian. Many appreciate your stance and unapologetic support 🙏🏼

The issue for most normal people is, Ian , why are Labour asking pensioners to plug the black hole they say they’ve inherited. For me, I’d think firstly of an internet tax, putting a levy of 2.5% on all purchases delivered to uk addresses by Amazon, eBay, vinted and the rest. I couldn’t care less where the sellers are registered. Tax the delivery and look after our pensioners.
