No, they dont become your fing child. They're still your parents, still who brought you in and should be respected as such. Be grateful you have 82 yrs and more ahead. I wasn't so lucky.

How about you give her some dignity and not film her like a circus freak to post on the internet?

When my dad began slipping we worked hard to protect his dignity & privacy. I understand the sentiment of this post, but not the invasion of this womanโ€™s privacy by posting this video. Preserve your parentsโ€™ legacies. Itโ€™s ok to keep their decline private.

Its an odd thing to experience for those of us going thru it. Starts with the big guidance pivot, when they reach their 70โ€™s, and now u are the advisor. Then comes the hand-holding, babysitting, and care. Lifeโ€™s full circle and we will be next.

I can't stand people who film their loved ones without giving them their dignity. I see it all of the time and it turns my stomach.

My dad become my โ€œlittle buddyโ€ as I called him. It was the greatest honor of my life to care for him (even tho it was hard work). I miss him every day. โฃ๏ธ

Sometimes I think about my mom growing old. How I wouldโ€™ve taken care of her if I had the opportunity. I wonder what she wouldโ€™ve looked like had she grown old. If youโ€™re reading this and you have a mother, text her, call her, visit her. Ask her questions and let her tell you stories. You will miss your mom when sheโ€™s gone forever. Donโ€™t take her wisdom, love, and advice for granted. You are the child, be the one to visit or help pay for her to visit if she lives far from you. If you get a chance to take care of your mom in her old age or illness, count yourself blessed for having that time. Do the right thing. ๐Ÿ’“

Yup, I am now my parents parent, protecting them from scammers, making sure they eat properly, driving them to appointments, paying bills, etc. It wasn't in my plans but I am grateful to be growing closer to them.

I feel this in my soul. I have a video of my mom at a Mexican restaurant- one of the last times she was able to go out and eat. I was cutting her food and feeding her. She was 88. ๐Ÿ˜” โค๏ธ

Not a child, still a mom. Still an adult that needs respect as she ages.

Don't worry sons, the burden won't be yours. It predominantly falls on the daughters. The financial burden, the emotional toll, the potential loss of your own life, almost always falls on the daughters. If it's alzheimers, they can live up to 20 yrs. That's not sweet IMO.

I was my Mom's primary caregiver during her 5 year journey with dementia until she passed 12/12/24 at age 89. It was the hardest job but also the most rewarding. Did she become the child I never had, yes, but she raised me and I did everything I could to keep her safe at home.

It's called the Circle of Life and it's an honor to care for an aging parent or grandparent.

That happened to me as I took care of mom and dad when they were in their final years. I became the parent and made sure they had what they needed.

This is not okay. People still deserve privacy and respect and if they cannot consent to this then you are exploiting their vulnerability. How would you feel if this is how the world remembers you? Aging is a natural part of life and care and compassion should be too.

To be able to care for an elderly parent is a true blessing. They arenโ€™t your child! They will always be your parent. Who deserves your love and care. Taking care of my mother the last year of her life got us closer than ever before. I miss her dearly.

This happened to me last year, my father uti went septic and he became a shell physically and mentally. Spend everyday all day with them in rehab is my advice, these workers don't care, well most don't, if I weren't there he surely would have passed away from negligence
