@JOwusuNepaul @lisanandy @DavidOlusoga Absolutely pointless ‘discussion’. All we ever have are discussions. What is Lisa Nandy going to do about any of this? Where is the support for the creative industries? Why are the 60%+ of unemployed TV freelancers being supported? Words word words and no ACTION.

@lisanandy @DavidOlusoga Ok great - what financial supports will be put into place to help even out the playing field? One of the many barriers in the country is the lack of access and investment for “indie” creators - what’s being done to address that?

British children should be proud to be British. Our schools have a duty to champion our history, our culture, our traditions, and the values that have shaped our nation for over a thousand years. The reintroduction of the singing of the National Anthem, and ensuring that the Union Jack flies proudly at our schools, would be a welcome step in the right direction. I put this very question to the Secretary of State for Education in support of proposals by Suella Braverman, because our young people should grow up proud of their country and see that pride reflected in the classroom. Schools should foster curious and critical minds, but they should also instil a sense of national pride. There is nothing divisive about encouraging children to value their country's heritage - in fact, I would argue it is the opposite of divisive. For too long, too many schools have downplayed or overlooked the positive story of Britain, leaving some children feeling detached from their own heritage instead of appreciating it. That cannot continue. We should celebrate Britain with confidence, honour our traditions, and ensure that every child grows up proud of who they are and proud to be British.
