🙏A tribute to Bobby Prince (1945 - 2026) Bobby Prince (full name: Robert Caskin Prince III) was an American video game composer and sound designer, best known for his iconic work with Apogee Software (later 3D Realms) and id Software in the 1990s. He created music and sound effects for many classic PC games, especially those published by Apogee or developed by id Software: id Software titles: Commander Keen, Wolfenstein 3D, Spear of Destiny, Doom, Doom II. Apogee/3D Realms titles: Duke Nukem II, Duke Nukem 3D, Blake Stone, Rise of the Triad. His Doom soundtrack is especially legendary. It blended heavy metal/hard rock influences (inspired by bands like Black Sabbath, Pantera, and Alice in Chains) with the technical limits of early PC audio. My family couldn’t afford buying brand new games and consoles. My first PlayStation game was a used Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions by HIDEO_KOJIMA that came with a used PlayStation that my Mother was able to afford for me as a gift. That game changed it all for me and shot me into a trajectory of gaming I would have never been on if there was no used consoles and games. I’m thankful for it Imagine now, with digital only games. The young generation of gamers will never have this experience and never be able to afford a used game.

Donald Burgess was assaulted by PC Stephen Smith and PC Rachel Comotto after officers responded to a call at his care home in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, on 21 June 2022. The elderly man had one leg and was sitting the entire time, he was taken to hospital after the horrific incident and died 3 weeks later!

Who here is old enough to remember when Myst (1993) blew everyone away? It was a straight-up revolution! Well, that's how it felt like at the time. Developed by brothers Rand & Robyn Miller (Cyan), Myst had over 2,500 photorealistic pre-rendered images, 40 minutes of original ambient music, and 66 minutes of video on a single CD-ROM. Many say it helped kickstart the CD-ROM era (1993 was still heavily dominated by 3.5" disks), which was an expensive hardware luxury back then. It looked and sounded like nothing else. There was no combat. No death. And also no hand-holding. Just you, a mysterious island, books, levers, codes, and puzzles in beautifil, lonely worlds - you had to figure it out, the gameplay was open and non-linear. It felt like stepping into a painting, and you could argue it was one of the first games with true immersion (again, for its time - remember this was 1993). It sold over 6 million copies, and stayed the best-selling PC game for 9 (!) years until The Sims in 2002. It created a whole new audience and changed what people expected from PC gaming forever, the bar was raised to a whole new level. For the first time a game also had real appeal to the non-hardcore gamers. It pulled in more female players than any other game before. For its time it was pure magic.

And to then go full circle and end it with yet another iconic hit. id Software brought us Wolfenstein 3D (1992), the grandfather of FPS games. Then followed it up only a year later in 1993 with Doom, widely considered the father of all modern FPS games, due to its massive popularity, multiplayer deathmatch, and modding community - and defining the genre's mainstream popularity to this day. And if that wasn't enough, they gave us Quake in 1996. If there was ever a studio to not just create a genre but then to also dominate it for years and years, the vote would have to go to id Software, no? Sierra for adventures. MicroProse for simulations. id Software for FPS. Blizzard (or Westwood?) for RTS.

Pi was built when there were already agent harnesses around. Here’s why Mario Zechner(Mario Zechner), found them suboptimal and built Pi, a minimalist self-modifying agent: #1 - Mario initially was a believer in Claude Code: "I was a believer in Claude code because they were the first that packaged agentic search up in a really compelling package. And at the time that fit my workflow really well. Everything around the LLM was kind of nice and tidy and easy to understand. I was super happy. I was proselytising Claude code." #2 - Reverse engineering Claude Code highlighted the degradation that Mario felt as a user: "I personally like simple tools that are stable and that I can rely on. Even if they have non-deterministic parts, all the deterministic parts should be as stable as possible. That was just not the experience with Claude Code around summer 2025. They would take away your control of the context. They would inject stuff behind your back, which is bad. Then, your workflows stopped working because there's now a system reminder that you don't even see in the UI that would modify the behaviour of the model. They would also do this to the system prompt. I built a little service where I can track the progression or evolution of the system, prompt and tool definitions and, with every release, it was messing with stuff. That just messed with my workflows and I don't appreciate that." #3 - PI was built with an appreciation for simple and reliable tools: "If I commit to a development tool, I want it to be a stable, reliable thing like a hammer. I don't want my hammer to break a different spot every day. That's terrible. We need somebody who goes the full velocity kind of way. But I don't want to work with a tool like that."

Daryl Hall & John Oates - Out of Touch [1984] Wikipedia: Daryl Franklin Hohl (born in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, on October 11, 1946) and John William Oates (born in New York City on April 7, 1948) first met at the Adelphi Ballroom in Philadelphia in 1967. Each was heading his own musical group, Hall with The Temptones and Oates with The Masters. They were attending a band competition, when they discovered that they were interested in the same music and both were attending Temple University. They started spending time together and eventually shared a number of apartments in the city. One of the apartments they shared had "Hall & Oates" on the mailbox, which became the duo's common nickname. It took them another two years to form a musical duo, and three years after that, they signed to Atlantic Records and released their debut album. The two did not start working together seriously until 1970 after Oates returned from an extended stay in Europe.

The 1990s were a time when SNK and Capcom were fiercely competing to bring their arcade games to home consoles. Capcom kept upgrading its hardware from CPS1 to CPS3, while SNK stuck with a single platform—the Neo Geo—which was powerful enough to keep receiving new releases from 1990 all the way to 2004. Because of that, many SNK games ported to 8-bit and 16-bit consoles often suffered in quality. However, the PC Engine, despite being an 8-bit system, managed to deliver surprisingly strong ports of SNK games thanks to the power of CD technology. That said, it was incredibly expensive at the time, so I could only admire it at game shops. If I had owned one back then and used it to listen to CDs and play games, it probably would have felt even more impressive than a PlayStation 5 Pro does today.

When I first played Dispatch after EP 1 I was pretty sure BB was the one id be romancing then Ep2 came along and Visi showed up she was so funny but I was still sure it would be BB. Then Ep 3 happened man that's when there was a shift when I saw her face after taking down the villain and everyone celebrating her and her being so shocked by it all having a family and her looking at her score then thanking Robert I was like I began to really feel there was something there. Then EP4 happened and it was set in stone when I was given the choice of going on my date with BB or going to the movies with Visi what shocked me my hand moved on its own and i picked the movie something about seeing her all alone really bothered me. Then that subtle look she gave Robert settled that for me and i NEVER LOOKED BACK! I remember GOING THAT GIRLS IN LOVE!

When he, a BTS member who’s a superstar, came to ask a question like that, I felt that “wow he was taking notes attentively to ask a question like this.” And there was a library named “A library with dreams”on the second floor, and once in a while I personally witnessed him reading a book there.
