Her use of the term “thuggish minority” is an example of inflammatory language that serves only to divide and stigmatise rather than address the underlying issues. As Home Secretary, you have a responsibility to communicate with the electorate in a manner that promotes understanding and unity. It’s clear Mrs Balls needs training in how to engage the public constructively and respectfully.

Why are they only talking about two things. 1. Arrests will be made and 24hr availability of prosecutors and courts and 2. They will protect mosques. Why aren’t they trying to TALK to the public. Address their concerns. Reduce the temperature. They are flaming the fires with their ‘attack is best form of defence’. But not when you’re dealing with rioters it’s not. Normal people don’t need to be told platitudes they aren’t rioting. The people want and need calm, talk of addressing issues that are causing this and leadership. None of which we are seeing from @Keir_Starmer @YvetteCooperMP or anyone.
