So this was why Walsh awarded the free kick. It’s ludicrous to believe that Maeda was preventing or impeding given the distance he was from the keeper. Nick has set the standard and there will be numerous free kicks now on every game.

I believe this is the 2nd time this has happened against Maeda this season...no movement from Maeda to go towards the keeper to make any block.i don't think I've seen a ref this season(in the league) do any count down motion

That rule is a fucking disgrace and needs binned, if you vantage punt a ball on the footy field and miss 1 person yiur an idiot, if it's a pen and you enter box it's either a retake or penalisation, maeda not breaking any rule

Why don’t the keepers just take a few steps back into their area? They can hit the ball for miles anyway and a few steps back would have no impact.
