"There's 29 billionaires b****in' about another billionaire doing it better than they can do it." Lance Lynn says other teams should take a page out of the Dodgers' book instead of complaining about them doing it better.

Lance Lynn will never cross the MLBPA player line so he just misrepresents the entire issue to back them

This is tone deaf. The fans don’t care, lock the game down. Thats what the fans think.

Cardinals don’t have the money to have 1.1 Billion in deferred money. What an idiotic take.

@RegionalTVCat The Ohtani thing isn’t an argument. He wasn’t coming to St. Louis or Cincy. But, preposterous to think the Cards could have a $450 MM payroll. That’s $100 MM more than their total revenues.

I love Lance Lynn. That being said, this is an oversimplistic and flat out silly position. The Dodgers tv deal was given an exemption no other MLB team can obtain by rule, and gives them an extra 100-200 million a year.

Good lord... The Dodgers' billionaires are the same as all the other billionaires: they made investments into teams and want to pull a profit. It's not like the billionaires that own the Dodgers are saints and doing this out of charity. Nah, the difference between the Dodgers and the other organizations is that there are some built-in financial advantages that the Dodgers currently have that give them a sizeable advantage. Their TV deal gives them 400+ million dollars to work with that all other teams don't have. Their proximity to Japan gives them a negotiating advantage with players from that country. To pretend that these things don't exist is just blatant dishonesty from the players. And of course Skubal, Lynn, Harper, etc. are going to preach the "virtues" of Dodgers' ownership. They, like those billionaires, want MORE MONEY.

The players are absolutely unlikeable. They are smug and they are arrogant and they are unrelenting. I can't wait for the strike.

Name another team that is financially backed by a global investment firm with over $300 billion dollars in assets under management?

@RegionalTVCat That’s a limited view…they have way more revenue to work with than the Cardinals…mlb has special exemptions so they need a cap and a floor and the need better revenue sharing….

So all every team needs to do is declare bankruptcy and get an insanely favorable deal that protects 75% of their $334m/yr tv deal. Who exactly is offering the royals, rays, a's, etc tv deals of that level and should they declare bankruptcy before or after?

Nope. They need a hard cap and a floor

The Dodgers have a local tv rights deal from a bankruptcy court settlement 15 years ago that nets them $130M more annually than any MLB team, and $200M more than small market teams like the Brewers. So no, other owners can’t follow the same book.

The average fan doesn’t empathize with either party. When I see guys getting paid $3-65 mill a year, I can’t fathom that kind of money. But my team has to overachieve to beat the rich guy (Dodgers). I don’t give a shit if a pitcher can only make $20 million a year instead of $30m

I think we know now Lance is a player and not spending his own money. These 29 other owners are success minded people. But, what’s not in their DNA is to lose money on any business venture. Where baseball is today is most teams would need to lose upwards of $200M per year to keep pace with the Dodgers. The revenues are not even per club. Lance, your opinion is appreciated, but you can’t relate because you don’t have any “skin” in the game.

Like I loathe. I mean I fucking loathe actual one percenters crying about other one percenters. Yes lance one your bank acct hit and stayed at one million dollars you’re a one percenter. You and all the millionaires and billionaires combined don’t make up 1% of the population

Players usually have had the majority of fans on their side. Not any more. Whether you believe the owners colluded to load one team to unprecedented levels to gain that or not doesn't matter. When you have fans of every single team agreeing the need for a cap or a salary structure? The players have already lost. The only element that's unknown is how much damage they're all (owners and players) willing to do to the sport to get what they want because I do not think the owners will break this time. A cap is coming. The owners are likely never going to agree to anything less.

@RegionalTVCat Millionaires bitching about billionaires. Spare me. Install cap and floor. Stop being so greedy.

he’s saying this is because he was a player obviously, and when they go to the table, they’re talking about a cap and none of the players want a cap, which is understandable the teams like the Dodgers and the Pirates on the other end of the spectrum will b why a cieling and floor

If you are a True Baseball fan why aren't you listening to the Players (Lynn, Harper, Diaz). They all say the same thing = Dodgers want to WIN 💙🏆 Players are IN the clubhouse & organizations around the league. Some organizations are in for Profit 📈 bottom line.

Players are going to champion other players getting paid. Lockout be damned. For the record, I disagree with Lynn
