David Stearns was asked if the Mets need to rethink their strategy when it comes to signing players with injury histories: "I think we absolutely have to look at our risk assessment on injured players or players who get injured once they're here. Certainly, we know we're taking a level of risk when we bring players in with injury histories. We're feeling that risk right now and it hasn't helped that a number of our players have gotten hurt at the exact same time. It's not something we necessarily anticipated. But I think that's a fair question and something we need to look at."

How we look on the outside is one of part but mainly it’s about how we get along, like how we come together, how we adapt with each other. We don’t need to have the same personality but it’s about understanding and how we accept each other. What each other’s limitations, and does it work out if we match it together? Can we adjust it? Can we turn it up or down? Well, kind of talk in lot of things. If we can complement that, I think we can ‘match up’. I think it’s a good non-toxic love by that way. Being able to talk about anything and understand each other is important for keeping it going long-term.

The thing is, if we didn't have to live with any of these people, we wouldn't think about them at all. We'd have no reason to - we don't admire their behaviour, their creations (what little there is of them) and we don't want anything from them. So, we'd just never think about them. In his second captaincy, he wants to pave the path forward to make sure those shortcomings stop happening now and into the future.
