There's nothing more conservative than a liberal with a house.

Everyone go follow this guy on instagram, he's amazing

Who is this Patriot?

BARS

So the moral of the story is to flip California red?

say Lefty not liberal

Haha. The demographics of my Liberal neighborhood, bless their hearts.

housing supply politics condensed into a powerpoint villain slide, incredible artifact

This is fucking bullshit. I want new housing in San Francisco; I simply require it to be 100% affordable… and 100% shadowless.

Hi Garry, what are your thoughts on Prop 13 ?

reform it

i bought my house for shelter, not speculation. i don’t really care what the market price is.

there’s also another aspect to supply and pricing called the substitution effect. San Francisco opted not to meet demand with more supply, so in effect it lost population and the actual ‘value’ of the good is far lower than it would have been would there have been built more accommodation for people who actually like the place. With the substitution effect, and the lower actual ‘value’ of being here other than the weather and walkability those who would really just packed up and left on their way and now we have our city in the condition that it is in. IMO take it with a grain of salt

Everyone is a YIMBY until the zoning board looks at their street.

can confirm. bought a house and within a month I had strong opinions on zoning, fence lines, and the HOA newsletter. equity is the fastest ideology converter ever built.

Government should get the fuck out of deciding what should be built

The mortgage really changes the ideology 😅

The irony is that owning property can turn abstract political beliefs into very practical concerns about taxes, zoning, and property values.

watched my lisbon landlord suddenly care about zoning laws the second he bought a second apartment, so yeah

Are you that black guys tutor? He must have been held back like 7 years. Poor guy.

A liberal with a house suddenly has a very practical reason to care about property rights.

We got rid of the ‘pest’

I can confirm, my condo value in Austin has basically halved in price since peak COVID days because there is so much more buildings housing etc that everyone is getting a really good deal, especially if you work in tech compared to what you earn vs square footage u can afford

for good reason

Very true. Cool video.

Raisin in the sun What do they do when it’s actually…A Dream deferred.

Hi

This is due to zoning IMO. If my neighborhood builds many skyscrapers, and attracts more people then I'd assume price per sq ft of my land would be much higher? Manhattan land price per sq ft is probably higher than almost anywhere in SF right?

this is the most effort i've seen anyone put into blaming one guy for a whole market

conservative, liberal, leftist, idc, if you're rent seeking and make nothing you're my op

Let's reform him.

Gary - Steve Hilton may not be so bad, I think that’s correct. Others are more of same old

Not sure if you know what's happening here in Cape Town, but the local government here is getting this right, approving and building like there's no tomorrow and still cannot keep up with demand.
