This is Peter Obi in 2024. This is why I like him - my kind of person. I would rather be the loser and be called all sorts of names than succumb to humiliation. Imagine you need me to win, but your body language and disposition towards me portray me as a nobody, all because you are proud. Before you wake up, I’ve already packed. Respect is reciprocal. Anybody saying the goal was to remove Tinubu by all means doesn’t understand that there is something worse than Tinubu. It’s like thinking there was nothing worse than Goodluck Jonathan until you experienced Buhari. You thought Buhari was the worst until you experienced Tinubu. It is better for Tinubu to remain there than for Atiku to come and sell Nigeria like condemned iron.

On the day of the APC convention in 2014, the North West was supporting Kwankwaso and Atiku while the South West was waiting for Tinubu's direction. The South East was supporting Okorocha, and he was likely to win the presidential ticket based on our numbers. So we decided to visit Governor Nyako and Governor Wamakko to convince them to support Buhari. They didn't listen much, so we went to Tinubu at night. We met with him, showed him the data on Buhari's previous votes in the North, and convinced him to align the South West with Buhari. That night, Bola didn't sleep. He went back to Governor Nyako and Governor Wamakko and persuaded both to support Buhari. That was when we got the North West votes back for Buhari. At the convention, Buhari had the North West and South West and picked up votes from other zones while the other candidates split the remaining votes. So anytime Buhari complained about Tinubu, I would bring up the history, and Buhari, being a man of conscience, would agree. The complaints were about Tinubu's upbringing and education. He had access to files on Tinubu, but I told him, "You knew all this when you asked for his support, and he gave it to us. So why bite the finger that fed us?" Buhari agreed and changed. For all of Jonathan's shortcomings, Buhari is not a replacement for Jonathan — Peter Obi ( 2nd March, 2015). This was the stand of all well-meaning Nigerians in 2015. Yes, we saw Jonathan's shortcomings but Jonathan was far better than Buhari. That was and is still the argument today. Tinubu is not doing well and it's known to even Tinubu's supporters and the issue before the ADC is not about who can win the primary election but who will do better than Tinubu.

For all of Jonathan's shortcomings, Buhari is not a replacement for Jonathan — Peter Obi ( 2nd March, 2015). This was the stand of all well-meaning Nigerians in 2015. Yes, we saw Jonathan's shortcomings but Jonathan was far better than Buhari. That was and is still the argument today. Peter Obi and Kwankwaso have given the Muslim-Muslim clerics another chance to develop a brand style. As I said earlier, even if the ADC handed their mandate over to Peter Obi on a platter, he would still lose woefully against Tinubu. He will never be a sellable candidate in the North. The APC government is after me, my family and my businesses but they cannot stop me. I am ready to die instead of backing down! — Mr. Peter Obi at New Year Broadcast on 2nd January, 2025. This man has been under attack since he declared his intention to run for president. He has been under heavy investigations yet they found nothing on him. That's why it's very annoying when I see some fellow Nigerians put on rig light and all they talk about is Peter Obi this and Peter Obi that. Nonsense! Peter Obi cannot win Tinubu! Tinubu cannot be defeated and all those nonsense talks. If Obi cannot win why not allow him to be fooling himself? I have never seen any of them advise Sowore, Amaechi etc that they cannot win.
