In my 101 class there were 2 native Japanese speakers who were trying to get easy credits and kept doing tiktok dances on the back of the classroom when the professor wasn't looking.

ALWAYS! I had 4 different Dereks across all my classes.

In my experience the ones having the most fun and getting the most creative with the language usually improve the fastest. Derek is going places 😎

Actually, doing this sort of thing made me more genuine; I was expressing myself more honestly and giving people a clearer picture of who I was. In a way I was right. This did not turn out to be the flex I thought it was at the time.

There was always this guy in every Japanese class. That and usually a guy who spoke Japanese just as confidently but was FAR worse at it. (I was the ladder for a few semesters)
