The front three is only half the decision. You can pick the "right" attackers and still get the same problems if the midfield can’t progress the ball, the press isn’t coordinated, and the distances between the lines are wrong. I’d actually judge Carrick on something harder: Can he build a structure that makes the front three dangerous or are we just rearranging the pieces and hoping for a different picture?
