I can’t understand why the bus stopped. The air intake on those E200’s is easily high enough to get through that water. They do it often. Very odd.

If you are going to try this, drive SLOWLY. It's water being thrown into the air intake that does this and creating a big bow wave makes this far more likely. You will see 4x4s with snorkels because of this. The exhaust/tailpipe being underwater is not the issue.
