H.E President John Dramani Mahama has directed purchase of all the 1000 boxes of tomatoes and the 2000 bags of onions produced by smallholders in Asante Akim North for the Senior High Schools in Ashanti Region. The Ashanti Regional CHASS, the Matrons Association and the Ashanti Regional GES have moved this morning to Asante Akim North to purchase the food stuffs from the smallholder farmers. Our deepest appreciation to the MP for Asante Akim North Hon. Ohene Kwame Frimpong, MP, the MCE Hon. Sarah Amoakoa and all for who have made it possible to save the businesses of these vegetable farmers. Big thanks to CHASS National President Rev. Father Steven Owusu Sekyere, the Ashanti Region CHASS Chairma, the GES, the Minister for Education Hon Haruna Iddrisu, the free SHS secretariat for the swift action. The management of Valley View University paid a special visit to 12-year-old super-talented sprinter and wonderkid, Nora Afoakwa, a Form 2 General Arts student at Adventist Senior High School (ADASS), Bantama, in the Ashanti Region, and informed her of their decision to appoint her as an ambassador for the institution. This follows Nora’s spectacular performance at the Inter-Schools and Colleges Sports Competition (Inter-Co) at Baba Yara Sports Stadium, particularly in the 100m race, where she finished second.

Three female students of Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO) in Tamale have developed and demonstrated locally produced remedies aimed at tackling the growing bedbug infestation in senior high schools across the country. Using a combination of locally available materials and ingredients, the students have prepared different samples of the treatment and tested their effectiveness against bedbugs. According to them, the various formulations are able to kill the insects within a few minutes, offering a potentially affordable and locally sourced approach to addressing the persistent bedbug problem in schools.
