Amazing innit? And this was an early 90s production. Just imagine the work they needed to actially make it so high quality like this. And you understand why Jp fans still prefer and love proper toku effects than CGI.

Yup2. Which is probably why fans even now wished there was a proper tv show or at least more to the movie. It was too short. But be grateful for what we got. It's such a treasure for a good reason.

I HEAVILY Recommend looking into Garo at some point, its Amemiya’s Mainline Bread & Butter as a full & proper Franchise IP, and considered one of the main 5 toku (Godzilla, Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Garo) thats peak horror, practicality, and even CGI, its peak

This is the kind of vibe I'd like to strike with anything I'd make one day. Just absolutely horrifying creatures and demons and what not, psychological nightmares etc etc. and at the end bubblegum man comes and beats it up

@adishankarbrand Kamen Rider Z-O Keita Amemiya designed the monsters and the Kamen Rider in this short film.

There's something about practical puppets and stop motion that go about as well together as chocolate and peanut butter. You can ignore just for a minute how janky the motion can be with a lot of these but if you know how to do something with them the end result is perfect.

This is fantastic Stop motion with monsters definitely gives it a creepy look and feel

The same guy who created The monsters and our hero in this Kamen Rider ZO theatrical shorts for a Japanese film festival built around tokusatsu short films. A year later he ends up making mechanical violator Hikider. Whose director's cut is available tubi and other things.

in my dreams studios like Orion and Ghost House would start outsourcing their FX to Laika or ShadowMachine instead of some fuck ass CGI house that'll cost 40 million because they need to pay the salary for 500+ employees

I always felt ZO was like a Kamen Rider that Del Toro directed.

ZO is an overlooked masterpiece to this day, it’s a shame we never got any more of him

I only watched Shin Masked Rider on Amazon, which needs a physical 4K release btw, and really enjoyed it. Seeing this makes me want to watch more Kamen Rider.
