It’s important to distinguish between the mechanical drones and the spheres/orbs. The drones are from an SAP under DOD control I believe the orbs are NHI in origin. They are all coming out to play.

Note that they vary widely in size from 6 to 40 feet and some fly silently while others make a noise. And some have been seen starting out as glowing orbs and then gradually turning into imitation drones.
