Pakistan is an example. Military top brass and the elite get rich and leave the country with a huge debt. Ordinary people's lives actually get worse because tax increases and other cuts in services. USA tells Pakistan to cut ties with China, give airbases to US army or else.

World Bank loans don't appear to have improved the living conditions of people in #Egypt, #Jordan, #Morocco, and other countries, but we see foreign companies and shopping malls expanding there... They make the rich get richer and the poor get poorer...then they start up chaos!!
