In a recent interview with Press Box PR, Raphaël Colantonio, the founder of Arcane Studios, shared his experience of working with Valve on the cancelled Half-Life 2 expansion called "Return to Ravenholm": “It took us a decade to move on from the pain of the Ravenholm project because we were incredibly excited about doing that game and we put in a lot of creative energy into it and eventually when the decision was made to cut it, we did not understand it as it happened. We were young and we were just refusing to see the reality of the situation and the reality was much simpler than the way it looked to us. It all came down to the economics behind Half Life 2 and how the DLCs were selling. They had a business ratio between how much they could spend and how they could make it to be worth it to them because it takes the attention of the entire structure on their side. They had tried to create something internally and then they had tried with an external team already in America but it did not work out because they were too expensive so they worked with us because they liked our work and we worked with them during that time. They thought, you know, why not try these guys? We seemed pretty effective and eventually, like the two other attempts that they had looked at, we went somewhere with it, and it was cool. What we had was really, really cool. But it still needed more time, and too much time to finish. Beyond it being cool there was a business call at some point where it was decided that it didn’t really make sense. It was very painful for us but it made sense, we grew up and got a little bit more mature about it.”

John Carpenter on how the studio, audience and critics reacted after watching "Big Trouble in Little China" (1986) & the reason for movie's failure: "Carpenter: I thought about writing a book about my experiences in Hollywood being a director, mainly because I was burned out on making movies. But | didn't do it because | thought, “I’m not ready yet. | don't have enough to say yet. I need to make more films and | don’t want to quit yet.” Interviewer: How did Fox executives react when they saw the movie for the first time? Carpenter: Needless to say, they had a few problems with the movie. They sat down with me and we went through the film. They didn’t like that the white hero was such a buffoon, and that he was being shown up by the Asians. They were afraid the audience wouldn't think this guy was brave, so they asked me to cut out the humor and emphasize his bravery, which was impossible to do. Then we got to the preview stage. The audience that saw it really loved it and laughed, so they wanted me to put the humor back in and go back to what it was—they still hated the movie, though. They didn't want Kurt to play it plenty. They wanted him to be an action hero, a real live action hero, not Jack Burton. They wanted him to be more like Rambo or Stallone. They wanted him to play it straight and it wasn't straight. Interviewer: How was the movie perceived by the audience and the critics? Carpenter: Nobody got it. Like I said earlier, timing was never my thing in terms of when my movies come out. This movie was completely and totally misunderstood. The critics and the public thought it was just bad, and there is nothing | can do about that." When it went from just a finger, bing, and there it is. And all of a sudden, they had to have these, you know, these tiles up to show, "Oh, this is getting great reviews," "Oh, I heard about that, I've never seen it," and they start watching it, and that's what changed everything. When Netflix went to streaming, we were on it, and it's like skyrocketed. I will always be grateful to Netflix for what they've done. I mean, that was the turning point in the in the house of the success of Breaking Bad.

In 2007, Nike assembled Kanye West, Nas, Rakim, KRS-One & DJ Premier to create a hip hop anthem to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Air Force 1 sneaker. “Rick Rubin did the original, and word on the street is they weren’t satisfied with the outcome, says DJ Premier. It was a whole different tempo, and a whole different approach. Rob Stone said they might actually want to remix it. Actually, KRS-One called me and said, ‘Yo, I need you to help fix this record.’ Then I saw the launch on MTV, and I figured that’s over with, when they launch the sneaker and everything. Then all of a sudden I got a call back again two or three weeks later saying, ‘Yo, they still want you to do something.’ So they sent me the parts, and everything was different. Kanye, Nas, and KRS did the joint to the Rick Rubin beat. Rakim wanted to make his own beat. So he made his own beat, but at the wrong tempo. So when I got it I had to tweak it to get him to that tempo, but still keep him in the same tone of voice. You can do that with technology. So I had to keep him in the same key. He was at a 100 rpm, but it was 107, so that’s a big step. So I stay tuned in the same zero note that he pulled, sped it up, and it matched. Then I just pieced the whole thing together. “For the video, Rakim came here, and we turned all the lights down, and just made it really dark. Since he’s the only one who came here, when you see the play back, it’s ill. We shot him just with the acapella so we can bring him back in. When I saw that, even though Rakim was last on the song, in the video, I thought he should go first. And that’s how we flipped it around. The video was dope, man.”
