They don't make proper cyberpunk classics like Ghost in the Shell anymore

Well, I mean, you can only make ghost in the shell once really I’m sure there are others older and newer that are on par Akira for one

true... at least I can draw some cyberpunk-adjacent stuff

I recently went back and watched Akira and it really highlighted for me how bad modern animation and storytelling is. Recommend others to me! I’ve been on a serious cyberpunk kick lately.

"Your effort to remain what you are is what limits you." - The Puppet Master

It’s French animation; but I recommend Mars Express (2023). Felt very much inspired by GITS and other cyberpunk classics

Still one of my favorites of all time. Relevant to this day, because it was so ahead of its time.

Absolutely.

If you want to see th roots of anime cyberpunk check out Bubblegum Crisis OVA

However they quite literally are making a new Ghost in the Shell anime series 😁

Stunning anime. Blew my mind the first time I saw it.

Lazarus is a recent gem

what is the name of the song?

The matrix was good

@ElmWho this is what im talking about

Anymore? They haven't made a proper one SINCE GitS. It and Akira stand alone 😭

The song

Dare I say... it also has the best irl adaptation of any anime I've seen thus far.

It think it has to do with this genre not selling really well in the japanese market. Which is sad because I want more of this, the only thing thats close to it is Cyberpunk Edgerunners.

isn't a new Ghost in the shell dropping this year?

And they won't ever make one like it again

The 🐐 was just watching the other day , If we can get back to material like this , we would be in great position 🔥

TV series was great to "stand alone complex"

I love Ghost in the Shell. Gods, I wish they'd make more. 😏

A classic

@grok song name please

Pure classic art

That's because Cyberpunk has gone out of style

Been a while since I've seen the film.... why did she kill that guy again??

ghost in the shell was my childhood

Why bother when we are about to live in it, minus all the cool transhumanist stuff of course.
