As a Boro fan, I went to the Vic last night to see Pools after all the pre-season hype. First of all, the Pools keeper was exceptional. He didn’t pull off any worldies, but commanded his area brilliantly and his distribution was nigh on perfect. Eastleigh were a big, physical side and Pools might have fared better had they tried to play a bit more football. The ball was constantly in the air, where Eastleigh were dominant. A draw would’ve been a fair result, but Eastleigh took advantage of the extra man and snatched it late on. Pools were very unlucky with the second yellow for their number 12. His first, just before half-time, was soft, while the second was a poor decision from a referee who seemed to get everything wrong all night. Possibly one of the worst refereeing performances I’ve seen in the flesh for some time. Overall, Pools still look some way off being a team capable of challenging for promotion, and it doesn’t seem like Clark has them playing to their strengths. An enjoyable evening despite the result, though, and an impeccable two-minute silence for PCs Matty Blades and Tom Clough, with their families present. May they rest in peace 😔 #HUFC

Remarkable that Clark and Clayton were very good central midfielders, they both seemingly believe Hunter is worthy of captaincy & a starting place..... it'll cost Clark his job if he keeps selecting him.

Ref was the worse I’ve seen in fifty years of watching Pools: midfield needs looking at sharpish. Hunter not worth place in squad let alone captain

I think the midfield dynamic/ balance is off. Nothing against Hunter, Sheron (or even Miley), but they're all very similar and don't seem to offer enough diversity. With that also said, I don't think the team suits a 442 either. Referee was also absolute rubbish too.

Ref was a absolute disgrace it was so biased just pure cheating in the end, yes the lads worked hard and deserved a point, however I still haven’t seen in 4 games a good good performance from us and cm is not good enough at all massive weak point still.

We all need to pray and hope that Owen Hampson is the answer when he’s fit, or we need to change how we play. We needed to move on from Jack Hunter last season, but Lee Clark has given him the keys to the castle.

Midfield is a massive concern

1st half Eastleigh had the better chances, we played hardly any football it’s all kick and rush with the attacking players feeding off scraps. I am not sure Clark wants us to get the ball down and play which which is a concern as it’s how you beat teams like that tonight surely?

I thought this was 2014 still..Lee Clark was giving this exact same post match interview after yet another Birmingham defeat..he’s a good man but I’m not sure coaching is for him 🤣

I agree with whay LC is saying. Still feel shafted and disappointed in the result. I would have been gutted with a draw. A defeat feels like a kick in nuts!
