He was an unknown when he got to England, and this is my all time fav pic of him. There was stuff written that he was an abused kid...(who, how, what??) but that guitar saved his life ie suicidal. He gets to England, was broken out all over his skin, stressed out, poorly groomed, broke AF, and yet was so unassuming and gentle that to sing "HEY JOE" song of how men settle things as personal marital issues with a gun just put ppl into a "Whaaaaa" shock mode... It was Hendrix as a person, a soul that brought in the crowds...it was later as a talent that forwarded him into stardom. Jam sessions with other struggling musicians made him POP as they never saw a left handed player like that, self taught vs their formal training in music, and he was so intuitive ie could listen once and could play along, and improve as well. #BlackMozart Then Woodstock opportunity came, and his interpretation of The Star Spangled Banner... Damn...blew the doors clean off. One could hear the bombs, the military struggle for the first time in our anthem...chills.. (My parents were there! Cried every time they described it...hmmm ) He should have stayed in England... We may have had a JJ and J3 legacy today

I had an older friend who saw Jimi open for the Monkees when she was 12 years old. She said none of the little girls in the audience (which was ALL little girls) stood there in shock, minds totally blown.

Jimi was an original Authentic phenomenon who accomplished a great deal and sadly passed away at the young age of only 27❗️🎸👑🎥🎬☑️🔥🔥🔥

Actually, I think "Hey Joe" was a fairly straightforward cover of what sounds like an old folk song. That's probably why they chose it for TV. The other cuts on his 1967 album "The Jimi Hendrix Experience" were much more far out. "Third Stone from the Sun" was like something you might hear at an acid festival and sort of generic in that respect. It was on tunes like "Purple Haze" and "Foxy Lady" you heard the real genius of Hendrix and what made him unique.

Um ya Hendrix sucked as a guitar player. If he was White he would not have been a fart in the breeze. Pure novelty.

I saw him live in 1968 in San Francisco at Fillmore West (if I remember correctly 😵‍💫). His amps were torn, his guitar was a bit out of tune, but he was great! 🎸☮️ Buddy Miles was the drummer.

What an amazing video, thanks for sharing! Made me think how cool it would have been if Prince did a remake of Hey Joe.

The closest one to him was Randy California, whom Jimi wanted to join him but he was underage and his parents wouldn't let him go. He was late the lead guitar in the band Spirit. 4

There’s no doubt that Hendrix was on another level. Taken by drugs, sad.

Now I know you’re not in my home but lol I’d be listening to old 60’s early 70’s. Visiting the good ole days. He was great! Saw him at Woodstock, died 13 months later.

When people made music for the love of sound. In 2026 this is a lost art, now replaced with the quest for clout and money, music no longer, has soul.

A similar thing happened on the Saturday night Lulu TV show. What a genius that man was. Hopefully libtards won't listen to the lyrics or they'll try to have him cancelled...

It seems as if he was a black, brown, white mix. One sees that often.. also Sade is something like that.. Bob Marley was white, brown. They are presented as black artists. But they are not black.. only too. Why could such a thing matter? That is a very good question.. would it not be better just not to mind? One thing is that it can enable us to group correctly so we do not have to depend on them grouping us. The other thing is that it helps us a lot to identify things and issues. It also helps us to understand many problems much better as it provides possible (or also most likely) reasons for conflicts. And many other things.. it actually really matters. If anyone is higher or lower is not so important. All we have to understand and accept is that we are different. Or also perceive us in different ways and identify (also reject) in specific ways. These days even in the opposite direction as it would normally occur (because of heavy inverted programming).

That's obvious.. Germans doesn't understand a word of this song. They don't speak another language. They dubbed everything.

Saw him at a club in a Central Florida beach town in the late 60s. He asked for no more flash photography halfway into his first number-Purple Haze. Off went a flash, he gave us all the finger, and walked off the stage. I never much cared for his music, anyway.
