The desert is actually my favorite region in the game. The music and vibe is both calming and melancholic at the same time in the best way possible. Also the ancient ruins are fantastic because of how it makes you think of what they could have been.

sumeru will always have a special place in my heart

I love the Sumeru desert, even without the sub-terrainian maps… that was proper exploration!

I missed big maps so much😭😭😭 I literally offered to explore my friend’s map because I love exploring

Sumeru desert was easily the best Genshin map expansion(s). It was the only time where it felt like you are actually exploring. No map, you just get in some cave and then hours later you manage to get back to the surface, feeling like you actually just had an adventure.

they could have made the maps simpler (less cave stuff) like they did in nodkrai or they could improve the compass, like they did in nodkrai but not both

sumeru dessert is cool now that we have underground maps. it wouldnt have been so hated if we got it then😢oh how ive misjudged you dear sumeru

No, the desert was great, but the fucking world quest just to get clearance was fucking miserable. None voiced, days long, repetitive puzzles and back tracking, and an under-whelming final "boss" battle, which all culminates into making the desert arguably less interesting

Snezhnaya should be big. Nod Krai and Natlan's size is understandable for me because it fits the geography of the region like how sumeru fits it's size as well.

i loved sumeru!!😭 had it 100% since its release

no one really hated the desert. the real hate came from 3 expansions in a row being desert. it didn't spark excitement because it felt like exploring the same area 3 times over. especially coming from inazuma where each expansion (each island) looked so different from each other.

Exploring this place was legit top 3 Genshin experience It didn't even feel tideous at all

facts, I miss old school genshin world exploration. Cause they have great world and env artists

Sumeru desert is overhated and the fontaine underwater is overrated!!!

No one hated the rainforest because it wasn't a desert. Wrong lesson was learned.

unpopular opinion but I really loved the sumeru desert, also the jungle zone. Sumeru is really beautiful

Not just that, puzzles have become grossly oversimplified as a result.

Im a desert dwelling Ancient Egypt buff. I love Ancient Egypt and references to it. I remember the great desert of Sumeru extending out beyond the horizon. Then Natlan came out. The sand was all gone.

i had maiden of sanctity on replay during my exam season… everything went so well with this masterpiece playing

I love Sumeru desert I hate everyone that complained about the size bc Natlan was way smaller than I thought it would be💔💔💔

I don't hate the Sumeru desert. I hate the jungle. Desert was fine imo. Granted the puzzles piss me off to this day, but overall don't mind the desert.

It's genuinely just because it's too big, and only by a small margin. Sumeru is as big as the first three regions combined. The problem now is that we're just getting Inazuma. Fontaine was the perfect size, and then they ruined it from there.

sumeruuuuu was so goood thooo, specially the music 😞 i love explorinf sumeru coz the music makes you immerse with the environment

I’ll always love the desert the vibes with the music and scenery is just unforgettable.

Hoyoverse doesn’t even try with map continuity or transition zones anymore, they just make a small island with harshly divided sub zones and call it a day

I love the desert to some extent, the music the lores (dark) exploring the vast desert made me imagine the ancient time and two Ruin Golem was fun too, one i was able to ride for a brief time and my favourite NPC is Jhet and her world quest.

I think what got me was the fact that there was no real option to make traversing the dessert any easier or shorter

I miss this place

I've never understood the summeru hate... They r prob used to kid's games or dating Sims in my head cuz ain't no way someone found that hard or tedious XD Which is also why I liked Inazuma n hated natlan, that map was too easy n only meant for sightseeing

It wasn't the size, but the quality of the puzzles.

I really liked it but it was a shame that all of the ruin quests lacked voiceacting and any playable characters, they were interesting. I'm sure most people who dislike the desert just never unlocked the ruins since those were world quests.

When I first got there I hated it but now 2 years later I love going back and still having sm to explore

better than a bigass map full of nothing
