This is mainly an issue with NBA stat keeping. It happens all the time, Jokic had a bunch of “assists” like the one you showed for LeBron. End of the day the amount of “fake” stats doesn’t heavily skew overall averages

It’s is hilarious how stats are open to interpretation. IMO an assist should only be counted if a player receives the ball and immediately scores after receiving the ball. No dribble, no shot fake, no jab steps.

you have 5 secs for someone to score after you pass to them for an assist. all of those were assists. just bc the guy self created after bron passed to them doesn’t mean they aren’t assists
