It isn't. It's just stealing from impressionist artists who actually did create something. This is just shuffling the deck.

there is no sense of depth. the lens makes no sense. it's a banal hideous corruption of art.

AI can't make beautiful things still. It can recreate beautiful things that made!

now this is a worthy direction to explore.

"AI can't make beautiful things." Meanwhile AI just studied every painting ever made, every film ever shot, every artist who ever lived — and made this. 🌌

It can't. All the pastels in the world can't save that shit from being grotesque at a fundamental level.

I pity those whose view of beauty never extends beyond aesthetics. I wonder if you’ve ever seen the way light diffuses through the petals of bougainvillea, or if you’d rather have it imagined for you via computer programming.

Maybe it can, but this is kitsch

Can you begin to even imagine a full blown Art History & Appreciation educational course using this kind of immersive AI imagery ? The “AI Slop” wave was just us being toddlers playing with toys. Now we humans are starting to grow up.

This is magical. Great use of the tech to create something more interesting and uplifting than Terminator v. Predator or yet another dinosaur.

So Renoir's style, which captures the soft light of a moment frozen in time, hasn't resonated with you, and you've had to turn it into a blurry smudge. Okay.

it can copy and create permutations - of beautiful things for sure ... (which most of humanity can't do) and only 0.0001% humans can truly create very original and authentic stuff! so yeah AI is beating mediocre "so called artists"

It's not whether AI can or can't, it's about why you would prefer something created by AI which has no soul over something created by human beings.

It can't. It scrapes then extrudes mashups of the beautiful things humans created.

Completely devoid of any meaningful human interaction.

Much is made of the flowing dresses a la Marilyn Monroe, quite an anachronismfor 19th century …… This says two things about AI applications being limited by the quality of adopters. Sure, one can use AI for pretty things, and there should be more of it. But even then the tastes and priorities of the users will compromise the effect.

Now we just need more affordable color E-Ink frames to enjoy interactive art at home.
