Go for it, let Canadians vote as well and your majority is assured. The negotiations must make certain that Alberta is no longer associated with Canada in any way other than through negotiated trade and diplomatic agreements. No CDN currency, passport no sovereignty association

The 1998 Supreme Court ruling says if Alberta chooses independence, every province and Ottawa and First Nations have a duty to negotiate. No one can just say ‘no’—the law’s clear, and Alberta holds the cards.

How does the East still have the strongest voice in Canada? It's time to get to the negotiations stage and demand better for the future of Alberta. Send a message to Ottawa and vote YES to leave Canada in a referendum in order to put Alberta into a seat of power to negotiate for better for future generations. Otherwise, it's telling the Feds that annual increases in taxation without representation is ok. A "Yes" vote to leave Canada doesn't mean it's immediate, it takes the first step to powerful discussion and negotiation. The legal pathway, as laid out, requires discussions in Good Faith with the Federal government and the other 9 Provinces. Let's put our foot down and have a real negotiation instead of being told what to do. #IAMALBERTA

At first, I was angry about Danielle Smith’s referendum question. It felt like Alberta independence supporters were being denied the direct yes-or-no vote many of us wanted. But after cooling down, I started to see the strategy. If we cannot win a vote on whether Albertans should even have a referendum, then we probably could not have won the direct independence vote anyway. This new question gives fence sitters a third option. People who are frustrated with Ottawa, equalization, pipelines, taxes, the economy, woke policies, and federal overreach, but who are not quite ready to vote yes on independence, can still vote to have the referendum. They can send a message to Ottawa now. And make up their mind later. Watch the full video here:

Quebec responded to the Clarity Act with Bill 99, a law asserting Quebec’s right to self-determination, defending the authority of its National Assembly, and recognizing that a referendum is decided by a majority of valid votes cast. Alberta needs its own Bill 99. The future of Alberta should be decided by Albertans, not by the House of Commons.
