🤦♂️🙄 Dogs can tell if you're scared or not. You're only going to get a reaction if the owner's not in on it. That's why some of them were like, "Whatever," and others were like, "Lemme finish my food then I'll come play too!"

Good Dog!

The dogs sense no alarm, no fear, so “whatever, I am finishing my meal and I’ll join the play afterwards…”

I don’t snell cortisol or adrenaline. Y’all have fun wras’lin. Owner watches that on TV all the time.

Goldens are the best.

Come try this at my house if you want to be dinner 😂

I love the dogs that started eating faster.

We know dogs have an incredibly developed sense of smell. So when someone comes in carrying the scent of a known person, the dog doesn’t get alarmed. Especially if it picks up even a hint of complicity. In reality, the dog also detects stress. And here, despite all the commotion we can see, it senses that its owner isn’t actually tense, he’s almost having fun. And besides, the people showing up are probably friends, familiar faces.

just get a cat

The dog can smell the “intruders” and likely knows who they are and that their owner isn’t really afraid.

For the fully clueless, in each case, the dogs already knew the "attackers" instantly by smell.

My dogs would have instantly tried to kill both of them. Miss my babies.

A dog is useless unless trained specifically for protection

The dogs are too smart. They can sense that it's not true danger.

Who wants to find out? *Had to trawl through thousands of pics to find an even remotely scary one of 7.5 stone Mr Zeus (He's a softy).

There is the possibility that the dogs are like, “Nah, I smell you’re foolin’.”

Dogs aren't stupid, they can tell if the attack is real or fake.

Dogs are way smarter than people give them credit for. The idea of a dog falling for something that obviously fake is pathetic. They very likely smelled the set up first thing and then just decided to keep on eating.

Not sure I'd be doing this 'test' with a doberman. Guess it worked out though.

Heroism postponed until dessert is finished.

Highly food motivated dogs are useless as protection dogs. They will behave as in the video. It's funny how they ate faster. Low food motivated dog? Years ago my ex was about to hit me and got bit hard by our German Shepherd. Good boy.

Eh. Though there are certainly some dogs that would react this way, it's more likely they don't believe their owners are actually in any danger. There is an actual scent a person gives off when they're being aggressive or angry.

Part of the problem is that all of these are big dogs. Everyone knows it's the chihuahuas and terriers that will mess you up. Also, dogs read energy WAY better than humans. The humans are playing a game. The dogs know that because of the energy.

Dogs are more intelligent than humans. In different ways, but still vastly superior at this moment in time. She organized her own birthday party. 🤫

Only the Golden Retriever left its food to save its owner

That proves retrievers are the best dog!

All dogs recognise and remember people by their scent, in the above “experiment” the scent of the “attackers” is known to the dog as being not a threat. I visited my B I L’s farm recently after more than a year the dogs (both working Malinois cattle dogs ) did not turn a hair

I’d say that’s a little unfair to do it RIGHT when they’re being fed. Let’s see the same experiment without food involved. 😃

They knew it was someone familiar they should have found some strangers to test

no but they go off of smell, if its fake they don't smell fear hormones so they know its not real

No fear smell. They know the difference.

Dogs smell danger, they knew it was fake. 😎

Dogs can smell bs.

Dramatic and Human-attention grabbing, but did they establish measures of chemicals emited when people are in fear, shock, panic? It appears naive "test" not based on canine behavior sensing and smell/chemical sensory perceptions. For the "clicks."
