The SEC has been doing that kind of shit forever. They control/controlled the ranking and there would always be like 8 SEC teams in the pre-season rankings. Alabama played like 5 teams in ten years that were actually ranked in the top 10 in the last week of the season. But when it was time to “pick” a national champion; Alabama had played 3 pseudo-ranked top ten teams during the season.
